I2C Serial Interface LCD Adapter Module
To display data, commercially available LCD display modules like the 16×2 and 20×4 LCD displays work great with microcontrollers like the Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC, and others. However, a standard 16×2 LCD, even when operating in 4-bit mode, requires about 8 GPIO pins from the microcontroller, which is a lot for projects where GPIO pins are scarce. To reduce the number of pins required to drive the LCD display modules, we therefore need a serial-to-parallel data adapter. The standard 16×2 LCD display is intended to fit directly below this I2C LCD Adapter module. The LCD can then communicate with the controller via this module using the I2C protocol, which only needs two pins from the controller side. The PCF8574 IC then receives the data from I2C and uses it to display it on the LCD screen. It can power robotic projects, a 3D printer, quadcopters, and other devices.
